Joanna's life in Japan is perfect. She sings in a successful nightclub that she owns. At night she's plagued by the dream of a man with a needle and feelings of being violated. She meets fellow American Alex Hunter, who helps Joanna awaken to the fact that she's not who she thinks she is.
The Key to Midnight (Audible Audio Edition) Dean Koontz Tanya Eby Brilliance Audio Books
The Key to Midnight is one of those books that came out quite a while ago, but was revised several times. I think I read the most recent version. Although, I don’t think it changed my mind on any of it. Let’s see what I thought. The Ugly: Okay, there were several points in the book where Dean Koontz just went into a wild tangent of explaining foods, surroundings, and what not. Yes, description is nice and all, but leave a bit to the imagination. All he really did was take away from the main story.
The Bad: Aside from the distractions in descriptions, Mr. Koontz didn’t really build any supporting characters. It was more they were there, but they didn’t matter in the total story. The story was all about Alex and Joanna. Major lack in supporting cast for this book.
The Good: There was a point in the book where you realize there is a major conspiracy going on. As I said above, I believe I read one of the later versions of the book. I do believe that helped in the overall story. How this conspiracy worked in the original version is beyond me. The twist and turns are what helped.
Final Thoughts: I’m glad I read a recent version. I don’t think I would have liked the original version as much. Yes, the distractions hurt quite a bit, but if you tough them out you’ll be okay.

The Key to Midnight (Audible Audio Edition) Dean Koontz Tanya Eby Brilliance Audio Books Reviews
I'm re-reading all of the Koontz books as I add them to my electronic library and this one will make you stop and wonder exactly what our governments might be doing...
This was a gift for a person who loves Dean Koontz. He rates it 5 stars.
I love Dean Koontz books, and The Key to Midnight to another great book! The conspiracy, the government, and spies and how easily the can infiltrate our lives. The descriptions of the cities, makes you want to visit Kyoto and I really wish I could experience the food!!
My only complaint is in this eBook throughout the book usually at the beginning of the chapters there are words and spacing that is incorrect. You can always figure out the word or the statement, but when I pay for a book I would not expect see these types of errors, especially for an author like Koontz.
Not typical Dean Koontz but a seriously good read. Lots of twists and turns with a surprising ending. Worth the time
Loved the Japanese setting, the pace and pitch are perfect ( of course the "afterword" tells that this is an upgraded/edited version. ) Read a lot of this author, some of them twice. ( Or more) First time reading Key, so no way to compare to earlier version. Just glad I can spoil myself by buying these titles in eBook for my kindle. Many of the Forewords in the books tell of early struggle with the blending of genres and getting publishing house to let him trust his own instincts and let writing style evolve as it did without a lot of rule following. I actually like this author BECAUSE the books have great range. Kudos to Koontz!!
This was one of , (many of) the great ones. Dean Kootz is one of my favorite fictional authors. His creative writing provokes vivid images, and keeps you at the, proverbial, edge of your seat.
This was a typical Koontz book. Very good, exciting, fearful, scary as well as shocking. You never know what to expect, but you're sure trouble is right around the corner.Very entertaining book for a Koontz fan!
